Chris
Leader, Athlete, Caregiver
Chris is a leader and frontline worker in the harm reduction community. He also suffered a sports injury, which led to years of opioid use. Chris struggles mentally with his addiction and deals with ADHD, depression, and anxiety. Stigma makes it harder to break the cycle of substance use, discourages people from seeking support, and prevents us from seeing them as they truly are: a fellow human in need of compassion. When Chris is stigmatized for substance use, he feels worthless and unwelcome, increasing his chances of relapse.
