Sue
Mother, Mentor, Supportive
Sue is a supportive mother and a stubborn, relentless advocate for harm reduction. Sue also lost her son to a long fight with mental illness and substance use.
The grief doesn’t get softer or easier. Stigma makes it harder to break the cycle of substance use, discourages people from seeking support, and prevents us from seeing them as they truly are: a fellow human in need of compassion.
When Sue’s stigmatized for speaking out about substance use she’s so incredibly angry. She fought for her son every step of the way and no one helped.
His death was completely preventable.
